THE Otavi Town Council has warned residents against consuming, selling or distributing vodka cans recovered from the scene of a truck accident, saying the products may pose serious health risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the council, a member of the Otavi community reportedly collected the cans from the scene of an accident involving a truck carrying a consignment of the alcoholic product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The council said the vodka was reportedly not intended for the Namibian market and contains a high concentration of alcohol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It further warned that the products may have been exposed to excessive heat, fire, smoke and other contaminants during the accident, meaning their safety for human consumption cannot be guaranteed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Members of the public who are in possession of the products have been urged not to consume, sell or distribute them, but instead to report them to the relevant authorities for assessment and appropriate action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The council also cautioned parents, guardians and other community members about the potential danger the high alcohol content poses to children and young people, warning that consumption could have life-threatening consequences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The council said the health and safety of the Otavi community remained a priority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
