A SENIOR Zambian immigration officer has been detained after allegedly attempting to facilitate the irregular exit of a man through the Victoria Falls Border Control in Livingstone, Zambia, in the early hours of Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Department of Immigration confirmed that Senior Immigration Officer Masheke Masheke, who is based at Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport, was allegedly involved in the incident involving Jonas Zimba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the department, preliminary investigations indicate that Masheke attempted to irregularly facilitate Zimba’s exit from Zambia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The attempt was reportedly detected by Immigration and Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) officers who were on duty at the border control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When officers approached them, Zimba allegedly fled towards Livingstone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Masheke has since been detained at Livingstone Central Police Station to assist with investigations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Department of Immigration said serious investigations into the matter are ongoing and that appropriate action will be taken once the investigations have been concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
