THE court battle between Namib Desert Diamonds (Namdia) Pty Ltd, which is suing security company G4S Secure Solutions Namibia for N$314 million, has reached a standoff due to the non-disclosure of evidence related to the diamond heist by Namdia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Namdia sued G4S for negligence after its employee, Samuel Shipanga, a security guard, stole diamonds during an armed response to a heist at Namdia\u2019s premises, which happened on 18 January 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Namdia claims that G4S breached the written agreement by being grossly negligent in rendering its services and by failing to react and prevent the theft of the diamonds, despite being present at the premises at the relevant time. It is therefore demanding N$314 million, equivalent to the value of the 446 parcels of diamonds stolen during the heist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a joint status report dated 27 July 2026, the matter was postponed to 30 July 2026 for the court to determine the further conduct of the matter, after it came to light that Namdia has withheld certain evidence it wishes to use against G4S in the lawsuit. While it has said that it has possession of certain evidence being demanded by G4S, it has withheld it due to confidentiality reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The disclosure of evidence G4S seeks includes disciplinary records related to the diamond heist that took place on 18 January 2025, Namdia\u2019s security plan or the Standard Operating Procedures that had been in place on the date of the incident, CCTV footage and audio recordings. Namdia has, however, argued that it does not have possession of the CCTV footage, as the electricity supply to the premises was disconnected prior to the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other evidence sought also includes alarm activation records, as well as diamond acquisition, identification and valuation records, which have also not been disclosed due to confidentiality reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A total of nine suspects have to date been arrested in the diamond heist that took place on a quiet Saturday afternoon. They include two former protection officers who worked for the diamond company, namely Joel Angula and Charles Rhoman. An uncle of Angula, Sam Shololo, as well as G4S security guard Samuel Shipanga, the relatives of Rhoman, Bino, George and Charmaine Cloete, were also arrested in relation to the heist. Two other suspects linked to Samuel Shipanga, Andreas Akwaake and Immanuel Ipinge, were also arrested after being found with suspected proceeds of crime amounting to over N$700 000 at the Noordoewer border post in April 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The heist, in which diamonds worth N$315 million were stolen, resulted in the death of Namdia senior protection officer Francois Eiseb, who had allegedly responded to the robbery scene despite being off duty, and Max Endjala, who is alleged to be a suspect in the matter and took his own life after police closed in on the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
