He studied Philosophy and Theology at a seminary in South Africa and was ordained a priest of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI) in 2002.

On 11 May 2026, Pope Leo XIV appointed him Bishop and head of the Apostolic Vicariate of Rundu. He was consecrated on Saturday by Archbishop Henryk Mieczysław Jagodziński, Apostolic Nuncio to Namibia, with Archbishop Liborius Ndumbukuti of the Archdiocese of Windhoek and Emeritus Bishop Joseph Shikongo — Ngenomesho’s predecessor — as co-consecrators. Many other bishops from neighbouring countries attended, joining local priests and hundreds of lay faithful.

As Principal Consecrator, Archbishop Jagodziński urged Bishop Ngenomesho not to fear the challenges and limitations that accompany episcopal ministry, reminding him that authentic shepherds draw their strength from Christ rather than from themselves.

Ngenomesho’s episcopal motto, taken from 2 Corinthians 12:9, reads: “Et dixit mihi: Sufficit tibi gratia mea” (“And He said to me: My grace is sufficient for you”).

Upon appointment, every Catholic bishop adopts a personal coat of arms. It is a centuries-old tradition meant to proclaim faith, identity and pastoral priorities without words. Colours, symbols and a motto become a bishop’s public mission statement.

Ngenomesho’s shield speaks the language of the people he now serves.

The first quarter is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, reflecting his deep Marian devotion and honouring Mary as Patroness of the Apostolic Vicariate of Rundu.

Next to her is the OMI coat of arms with the motto “Evangelizare Pauperibus Misit Me” (“He has sent me to bring the Good News to the poor”).

The image of a canoe in the lower left of the shield drew quiet nods from the congregation on Saturday.

PICTURED: Bishop Linus Ngenomesho’s coat of arms.

In the Apostolic Vicariate of Rundu, the river is life. It provides fish, transport, borders and gathering places. Villages are linked by it. Families cross it. Children grow up beside it.

For Ngenomesho, the canoe symbolises the people and landscape of the Vicariate. It represents the Church “journeying together in faith, with the bishop called to accompany, guide and serve God’s people as they navigate life’s challenges.”

It was further explained that the symbol also marks Ngenomesho’s identity as a Missionary Oblate, and honours the decades of Oblate service that built schools, parishes and clinics across the Kavango and Zambezi regions.

The final symbol — the Holy Spirit as a dove amid flames — completes the picture: the journey is not made by human strength alone, but guided by the Spirit’s wisdom.

Above the shield sit the green galero with twelve tassels and the processional cross — the traditional insignia of episcopal office.

The Apostolic Vicariate of Rundu has approximately 122,320 Catholics.
