COMMISSIONER Andreas Shilelo, Oshana Regional Police Commander, is conducting community outreach and information-sharing sessions aimed at strengthening police-public relations and raising awareness of key social and legal issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The sessions focus, among others, on alcohol and drug abuse, the Liquor Act, domestic violence, the Witchcraft Act and the Combating of Immoral Practices (Prostitution) Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shilelo recently engaged residents of several villages in the Okatana Constituency, including Ohailulu-C, Iikelo, Ondjodjo and Epanya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He stressed the importance of community policing and urged villagers to work closely with the police in preventing and combating crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Community members were also encouraged to familiarise themselves with the country\u2019s laws to avoid running afoul of the law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Residents used the opportunity to raise concerns over rising crime in their villages, particularly livestock theft and domestic violence. They called for swift police intervention and a stronger police presence in response to such incidents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shilelo assured the communities that the police will continue to engage with the public and respond promptly to reported cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
