NAMIBIA Power Corporation (NamPower) has successfully listed a N$5 billion Domestic Medium-Term Note (DMTN) Programme on the Namibia Securities Exchange (NSX), marking a major step in strengthening its access to domestic capital markets and supporting future energy investments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The listing was officially announced during a bell-ringing ceremony held at the Cirrus Investor Conference in Swakopmund, attended by representatives from NamPower, co-lead arrangers Cirrus Securities and Nedbank Namibia, the NSX, and other stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The DMTN Programme allows NamPower to raise funding through the issuance of various debt instruments over time, including green and sustainable notes, enabling the utility to align financing with strategic projects and sustainability goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The establishment of the programme followed a two-year preparation process, which included regulatory approvals, the development of a programme memorandum, and collaboration with financial and legal partners. As part of the process, a sustainable finance framework aligned with international standards and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals was developed and independently assessed by S&P Global.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
NamPower Managing Director Kahenge Haulofu said the listing provides the utility with flexible and cost-effective access to funding while contributing to the development of Namibia\u2019s financial sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis platform allows us to support our strategic growth objectives while offering investors attractive debt instruments,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cirrus Securities Director Rom\u00e9 Mostert said the successful listing highlights the growing sophistication of Namibia\u2019s debt capital markets and creates new investment opportunities for institutional investors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A Domestic Medium-Term Note Programme enables issuers to raise capital efficiently by issuing multiple tranches of notes under a single approved structure, without requiring fresh approvals for each issuance. This enhances market liquidity, transparency, and investor confidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
NamPower, Namibia\u2019s national power utility, operates across the electricity value chain, including generation, transmission, distribution, and trading, under the regulatory oversight of the Electricity Control Board and the Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The listing is expected to support NamPower\u2019s long-term financing strategy while contributing to the expansion and sustainability of Namibia\u2019s energy sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
