THE Minister of Works and Transport, Veikko Nekundi, has announced enhanced traffic law enforcement and management measures along the Western Bypass (B1 Road) in the Khomas Region in response to a rise in road accidents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The measures include the daily deployment of traffic officers at key points along the bypass, with a focus on improving traffic flow and pedestrian safety during peak hours. Law enforcement will be present from early morning, targeting high-risk areas identified for frequent accidents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the minister, designated monitoring points will include the crossing near the Windhoek Country Club into Prosperita, the bridge near Katutura State Hospital, additional bridge sections along the B1, and the NaTIS area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To further ease congestion and reduce accidents, traffic officers will actively manage movement during peak periods, from 05:00 to 08:30 in the morning and again from 16:30 to 19:30 in the afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nekundi said the intensified presence of traffic law enforcement aims to regulate vehicle movement, assist pedestrians crossing busy sections, and ultimately reduce the high rate of accidents reported along the route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
