NEARLY a month after the disappearance of Beautus Tuna Iiyambo, a 26-year-old male resident of Onakaheke village in the Okahao Constituency of the Omusati Region who went missing on 12 January, a day after he arrived in Windhoek to start employment as a kapana seller, family members and friends took to the streets demanding answers and justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is alleged that Iiyambo, who had taken the opportunity to be a kapana seller in Otjomuise\u2019s 8ste Laan location and arrived in the late afternoon of 11 January, went missing the next day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is alleged that the employer, Matheus Shapaka, telephoned Tuna\u2019s relatives in the evening hours of 11 January, saying that his new employee had been talking nonsensical things and appeared generally confused.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is said to have confused Iiyambo\u2019s mother, as her son, before coming to Windhoek, had not shown any signs of mental illness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Tuna\u2019s brother, Nathanael Katutua, Tuna\u2019s mother had asked Shapaka to take her son to the nearby clinic in Otjomuise, but Shapaka had allegedly refused and said that he would rather take the disoriented Tuna to a bus so he could go back to the north.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is alleged that the mother stated that this would not be the best option given her son\u2019s condition and asked that Shapaka keep her son until the afternoon, after which a relative by the name of Nangula would come to pick him up when she knocked off from work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is alleged that on the morning of 12 January, the date on which his cousin would come to get him, Tuna left in the morning to buy a recharge voucher and never came back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When his employer called him, he allegedly said he was somewhere near a big water dam, after which his phone switched off. He has not been found to date, despite police officials searching the nearby Goreangab Dam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
