{"id":390980,"date":"2026-03-08T08:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-03-08T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=390980"},"modified":"2026-03-07T19:32:51","modified_gmt":"2026-03-07T17:32:51","slug":"women-lead-the-way-in-namibias-tvet-programmes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=390980","title":{"rendered":"Women lead the way in Namibia\u2019s TVET programmes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Staff Reporter<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">WOMEN make up about 55% of the total trainee enrolment at Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) centres this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This was revealed by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Namibia Training Authority (NTA), Erick Fundula Nenghwanya, during the official opening of the TVET calendar year, themed \u201cTransformation for Impact: Powering Future-Ready Competencies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are kickstarting this TVET Calendar year with a total trainee enrolment number of 13,512 so far, of which females represent 55% of that figure, with 7,432. This number is expected to increase substantially given that registration at some of the institutions is still ongoing, and we have 71 registered Training providers,\u201d Nenghwanya said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He underscored the vital role of TVET in Namibia, noting that it directly contributes to the Sixth National Development Plan (NDP6) priorities of economic diversification, youth employability, industrialisation, and skills-driven productivity growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThrough modernised facilities, strengthened curricula, and broader access, TVET will continue to be the engine that powers Namibia\u2019s industrialisation and sustainable economic expansion. When we speak of economic development, we are essentially speaking of high-quality skills that can build infrastructure, maintain systems, manufacture goods, and provide services that sustain communities.
