PRESIDENT Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has reaffirmed Namibia\u2019s commitment to broadening the country\u2019s energy mix, placing strong emphasis on renewable sources, and has called on international partners to back the country\u2019s efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSustainable development cannot be achieved without reliable, affordable, and secure energy. Namibia, therefore, continues to prioritize the diversification of its energy mix, with attention to clean and renewable energy, to support industrialisation, economic growth, and improved livelihoods for our people. We invite our international strategic partners to accompany us on this journey, guided by mutual benefit, technology transfer, and shared responsibility,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The President delivered these remarks during her New Year\u2019s address to the Diplomatic Corps, where she underscored the critical role of international partnerships and bilateral cooperation in advancing Namibia\u2019s national objectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are determined to ensure that our international partnerships translate into tangible and measurable benefits for our people, including increased investment, expanded trade, skills development, technology transfer, and the creation of sustainable employment opportunities,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking on the country\u2019s energy goals, she highlighted that climate change continues to pose both an existential and developmental threat, particularly to vulnerable nations such as Namibia. For this reason, she said, Namibia will continue advocating for predictable, accessible and affordable climate and development financing, with a strong focus on adaptation and resilience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe call for global commitments to be matched by concrete delivery, effective implementation, and measurable impact,\u201d the president said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She further noted that Namibia\u2019s foreign policy is increasingly driven by economic diplomacy, which has evolved from being a complementary element of international engagement to a central tool for advancing national development priorities. In this regard, she encouraged ambassadors, high commissioners, representatives of international organisations and honorary consuls to prioritise strengthening ties between Namibia and their respective countries and institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
