Scotland faced Namibia in Bengaluru in the opening match of the day, which turned into a run-fest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The upcoming fixtures included Afghanistan against West Indies, while the evening matches saw Pakistan take on Ireland in Colombo before co-hosts India faced South Africa in Navi Mumbai in a repeat of the 2024 final.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Namibia opted to bat first and made full use of the decision, producing an explosive batting display. Openers Louren Steenkamp and Jan Frylinck powered Namibia to a rapid 137 in just 10.5 overs before Frylinck was dismissed for a superb 88.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Steenkamp followed in the next over after a brisk 51 off 24 balls, but the momentum did not dip. Captain Gerhard Erasmus (33 off 22), Ruben Trumpelmann (25 off 13) and JJ Smit (22 off 17) kept the pressure on as Namibia surged to an imposing 226.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Scotland\u2019s reply matched the intensity of the contest. Despite losing opener Michael Jones early, Brandon McMullen and Mark Watt counterattacked with a blistering 102-run partnership in just 7.1 overs before Watt was dismissed for 33.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">McMullen fell agonisingly short of a century on 95 at a staggering strike rate of 243.58.
