THE trial of Ramon Flick, a man identified as either a German or a Dutch who is accused of sexual abuse of several children in the Kunene Region, continues before Justice Kesslau in the High Court at Oshakati today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ramon, who came to Namibia in 2021 as “a Dutch missionary”, was arrested in 2022 and accused of sexually abusing Himba girls who do not attend school using the pretext of offering them a religion-based education opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A local pastor who initially collaborated with the accused was among the witnesses and testified how they met in a lodge at Opuwo, discussed the accused’s plans to establish a girls’ home and visited several rural villages together to identify candidates and speak to their parents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was testified that the accused promised the parents that their kids would be sent to public and private schools at Opuwo. The accused played games and watched movies with the children and also wanted to take the girls on a trip to Etosha, a plan later rejected by the parents.
The accused eventually managed to recruit two girls who moved in to live with him, which later attracted the attention of the law enforcement agents who arrested him for sexual abuse of children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
