THE community of Onayena joined the entire nation in mourning the passing of the Founding Father, Sam Nujoma, the first democratically elected president of independent Namibia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nujoma died at the age of 95.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He led the long fight for independence from South Africa in 1990 after helping found Namibia’s liberation movement, the South West Africa People’s Organisation (Swapo), in the 1960s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After independence, Nujoma became president and led the country until 2005.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chairperson of ODE, Martin-Olembe Antindi, said the late president was a beacon of hope to the Namibian people, a statesman, and a selfless leader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
