{"id":369984,"date":"2025-02-12T05:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-02-12T03:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=369984"},"modified":"2025-02-11T19:40:15","modified_gmt":"2025-02-11T17:40:15","slug":"dams-show-positive-increases-in-water-levels-following-heavy-rainfall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=369984","title":{"rendered":"Dams show positive increases in water levels following heavy rainfall"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Staff Reporter<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">LAST week&#8217;s extensive rainfall has significantly influenced the rivers and dams across various regions of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Lot Ndamanomhata, the Head of Public Relations and Corporate Communications at the Namibia Water Corporation (NamWater), there were considerable inflows at several dams, including the Swakoppoort, Von Bach, Omatako, Friedenau, Otjivero Silt, Hardap, Neckartal, Naute, and Oanob dams, which has contributed to a positive trend in the country\u2019s water storage levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NamWater\u2019s Dam Bulletin indicated that the Swakoppoort Dam received an inflow of 1.955 million cubic metres (Mm\u00b3) since last week Monday, increasing its storage level to 27.4% of full capacity as of Monday, 10 February 2025. NamWater revealed that the Hardap Dam experienced a substantial inflow of 21.615 Mm\u00b3, increasing its level to 22.1% on 10 February 2025. The Neckartal Dam saw an inflow of 0.727 Mm\u00b3, bringing it to 79.8%, while the Naute Dam received 4.093 Mm\u00b3, raising its level to 31.9%. The Oanob Dam recorded an inflow of 0.177 Mm\u00b3, increasing its level to 33.4%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThese inflows are encouraging, particularly for the Central Area of Namibia, where water supply security remains a priority. Transfers from Swakoppoort Dam to Von Bach Dam, which commenced on 9 February 2025, are expected to further support supply needs in Windhoek and surrounding areas.
