{"id":369358,"date":"2025-01-30T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-01-30T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=369358"},"modified":"2025-01-29T22:04:45","modified_gmt":"2025-01-29T20:04:45","slug":"petrofund-announces-fully-funded-tvet-scholarships-for-nimt-keetmanshoop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=369358","title":{"rendered":"PETROFUND announces fully funded TVET scholarships for NIMT Keetmanshoop"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Staff Reporter<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">THE Petroleum Training and Education Fund (PETROFUND), in collaboration with Harmattan Energy Limited has announced fully funded scholarships for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) courses at the Namibia Institute of Mining and Technology (NIMT) in Keetmanshoop for this academic year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PETROFUND\u2019s spokesperson, Shoki Kandjimi, revealed that the scholarships are available for boiler making, electrical, fitting and turning courses at NIMT in Keetmanshoop. He encouraged people from the southern regions to apply, particularly in light of the oil and gas discoveries in the southern parts of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cQualified Namibians who have passed Mathematics, Science, and English at Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate Ordinary Level (NSSCO), either at the new Grade 11 or the old Grade 12, are eligible to apply for this fully funded scholarship. Applicants with the Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate Advanced Subsidiary (NSSCAS) at Grade 12 are also eligible. Successful candidates must be ready to commence studies in March 2025 at the NIMT Keetmanshoop campus,\u201d Kandjimi explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that the rapid growth of Namibia\u2019s oil and gas industry has created a critical demand for skilled professionals in fields such as boiler making, electrical engineering, and fitting and turning. He emphasised that these skills are essential for participation in petroleum exploration licence holders&#8217; ongoing exploration and appraisal campaigns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis initiative aligns with PETROFUND\u2019s commitment to equipping Namibia\u2019s youth with essential primary technical skills, serving as a foundation for further oil and gas upskilling. The goal is to enable young Namibians to secure employment in the country\u2019s evolving petroleum industry,\u201d Kandjimi said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All scholarship applications must be submitted via PETROFUND\u2019s online platform on or before 9 February 2025, accompanied by certified copies of all required documents.
