Thus, the doctors developed a treatment plan. I was first put on a 30-day radiation program, which was followed by chemotherapy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After the treatment plan was initiated, the tumour was completely destroyed, his bones began to recover, and he successfully underwent a bone marrow and stem cell transplant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mwanyangapo said that he left Windhoek for Cape Town in October last year as a cancer patient and returned home in January this year as a cancer survivor, giving praise to God for His miraculous work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis life-changing event prompted me to re-evaluate my life\u2019s purpose and commit myself to making a difference in the lives of cancer patients,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He resolved to play a leading role in supporting and empowering those battling cancer through the Lamech Mwanyangapo Cancer Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mwanyangapo emphasized that the Foundation is dedicated to giving those diagnosed with cancer a shoulder to lean on and helping them overcome the disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Moreover, he stressed that cancer is like any other disease and can be treated if diagnosed early. He encouraged everyone to go for regular check-ups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He emphasized that anyone can be diagnosed with breast, cervical, or prostate cancer, underscoring the importance of checking one\u2019s cancer status regularly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year, the campaign is being held under the theme: \u201cClose the Care Gap: Everyone Deserves Access to Cancer Care.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Maria David CANCER survivor Lamech Mwanyangapo has taken a bold step in the fight against cancer in Namibia by establishing a foundation to assist those unable to help themselves.
