THE Namibian Police Force has officially commenced the training of 910 cadet constables at the Ruben \u2018Danger\u2019 Ashipala Police Training Centre in the Oshana Region. Of these cadet constables, 637 are males and 273 are females, recruited from all 14 regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Inspector General of the Police, Joseph Shikongo, said that policing requires unwavering commitment, integrity, and a genuine passion to make a positive difference in the lives of others. He made these remarks during the official opening of the Police Basic Training Course 1 of 2024\/2025 at the Ruben “Danger” Ashipala Police Training Centre on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shikongo indicated that this training is running concurrently with similar training programs at the Pius Joseph Kaundu Police Training Centre in the Omaheke Region and the Simon Mutumba Mutumba Training Centre in the Zambezi Region, with a combined total of 1,788 cadet constables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The training of these cadet constables will ensure that they are transformed into guardians of justice, pillars of society, and protectors of peace and security,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Shikongo, the foundation of these noble tasks lies in professionalism, fairness, and accountability, qualities that every officer must demonstrate to realize the organization’s pillars and strategic objectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The training of these cadet constables is not solely about acquiring knowledge and technical skills. It also aims to foster transformation, cultivate good character, promote ethical conduct, and instill a deep sense of obedience and respect for human rights,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He emphasized that policing is not just a job, but a calling to serve and protect, to be a beacon of hope, and a source of reassurance to those in need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shikongo said that the path ahead will be challenging, both physically and mentally. However, it is through these challenges that the cadet constables will grow and develop the resilience needed to face the complexities of modern policing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
