PRESIDENT Nangolo Mbumba recently held a courtesy meeting with United Nations Secretary-General Ant\u00f3nio Guterres, during which he emphasised the need for international financial reforms that would benefit developing countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During their discussion, they highlighted Namibia’s pivotal role as a bridge-builder and peacemaker within the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region. Guterres also thanked President Mbumba for his efforts in uniting the global community for the upcoming Summit of the Future, which Namibia is co-hosting with Germany.<\/p>\n\n\n

President Mbumba expressed pride in Namibia\u2019s co-chair position, acknowledging it as an honour and a reflection of the country\u2019s alignment with the goals of the Global South.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Summit of the Future, themed \u201cSummit of the Future: Multilateral Solutions for a Better Tomorrow,\u201d is taking place from Friday, 20 September, to Monday, 23 September, in New York, United States of America (USA). According to the Namibian Presidency, the summit will see the adoption of the Pact for the Future, a process over which President Mbumba will preside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPresident Mbumba will preside over the adoption of the Pact for the Future, a document that will bind the commitment of world leaders to address global challenges facing humanity, including climate change, financing development, rising inequality, conflict, and food security,\u201d the Namibian Presidency explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
