{"id":362889,"date":"2024-09-16T07:47:01","date_gmt":"2024-09-16T05:47:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=362889"},"modified":"2024-09-16T07:47:10","modified_gmt":"2024-09-16T05:47:10","slug":"over-2500-athletes-gathered-in-oshana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=362889","title":{"rendered":"Over 2,500 athletes gathered in Oshana"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maria David<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">OVER 2,500 athletes have descended on the Oshana Region for the National Youth Games (NYG), where Team Namibia is expected to be selected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Teams from all 14 regions of the country are well represented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The games kicked off with a street procession from the Oshana Regional Library towards the Oshakati Independence Stadium, where the official opening is expected to be held.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video aligncenter\"><video height=\"360\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 640 \/ 360;\" width=\"640\" controls src=\"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/459320508_1561246788162633_4399978534094662219_n.mp4\"><\/video><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Video by Maria David<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This event allows athletes competing in various sports codes to showcase their regions and promotes unity among them as they mingle with each other, despite competing for the top spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The games are taking place across three different towns in the Oshana Region. In Oshakati, athletics and male football are being hosted at the Oshakati Independence Stadium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Ongwediva, netball, karate, and female football are taking place at the Oshana Gymnasium, while boxing is being held at the Ongwediva Multi-Purpose Center. Table tennis is being hosted at the Hifikepunye Pohamba UNAM Campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, volleyball is being played at the Ondangwa Tennis Court, and basketball games are being hosted at Andimba Toivo ya Toivo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The games will officially be opened by the Minister of Sport, Youth, and National Service, Agnes Tjongarero, at the Oshakati Independence Stadium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Maria David OVER 2,500 athletes have descended on the Oshana Region for the National Youth Games (NYG), where Team Namibia is expected to be selected.
