THE Legal Practitioners Fidelity Fund (LPFF) donated N$168,000 to the Legal Assistance Centre (LAC) to enrich its public legal database.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to LPFF, LAC\u2019s legal database, accessible to the public at no cost, stands as Namibia\u2019s most comprehensive resource of its kind. The fund highlighted that it encompasses a detailed compilation of Namibian laws, the NAMLEX Appendix detailing multilateral treaties applicable to Namibia, regularly updated annotated statutes covering all legislation, and annotated pre- and post-independence regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n

Expressing gratitude for the donation, Toni Hancox, Director of LAC, highlighted the database’s crucial role in maintaining legal proficiency among users. She emphasised the dynamic nature of the legal landscape, which requires continuous updates to reflect new laws and amendments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pius Iikwambi, a member of the LPFF Board of Control, also stressed the database’s importance for legal practitioners, providing swift access to essential statutes for legal matters, especially in court. He also encouraged other legal entities and private sector companies to contribute the remaining funds necessary to support this invaluable public resource.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
