{"id":359508,"date":"2024-07-05T05:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-07-05T03:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=359508"},"modified":"2024-07-04T17:53:21","modified_gmt":"2024-07-04T15:53:21","slug":"oshana-registers-about-52000-voters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=359508","title":{"rendered":"Oshana registers about 52,000 voters"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maria David<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">THE Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) Regional Electoral Officer for Oshana Region, Amon Oiva Haimbangu, said that they have registered about 52,000 voters to date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The General Registration of Voters kicked off on the 3rd of June and will conclude on the 1st of August 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;This is far less than anticipated at this stage given that fewer days remain than those we have covered so far,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Haimbangu, there are a total of 229 registration points in Oshana where inhabitants can register for their voter cards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Haimbangu then encouraged eligible Namibians to register in their respective constituencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We urge people to register while there is time to avoid last-minute issues, as there won&#8217;t be an extension,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that there will be no supplementary registration once the general voter registration concludes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The registration process will take place from Monday to Saturday, between 08:00 and 19:00.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Maria David THE Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) Regional Electoral Officer for Oshana Region, Amon Oiva Haimbangu, said that they have registered about 52,000 voters to date.
