{"id":355821,"date":"2024-03-14T21:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-03-14T19:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=355821"},"modified":"2024-03-14T18:28:45","modified_gmt":"2024-03-14T16:28:45","slug":"26-townships-proclaimed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=355821","title":{"rendered":"26 Townships proclaimed"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maria David<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A TOTAL of 26 new townships have been proclaimed during the financial year 2023\/24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This was according to President Nangolo Mbumba during his State of the Nation Address (SONA) delivered in Parliament on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Mbumba, a total of 3,103 new plots were fully serviced in various parts of the country, bringing the total number of serviced plots during the HPPII period to 6,024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Additionally, Mbumba said that 4,791 partially serviced plots are being serviced in partnership between the Government, Shack Dwellers Federation, and the private sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He indicated that a total of 2,073 housing units, constructed at a cost of N$97 million, have been completed in partnership with stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The new National Housing Policy and Implementation Strategy was approved by Cabinet in November 2023,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that the government provided a grant of N$10 million to the Shack Dwellers Federation for land servicing and housing, and an additional grant of N$17 million towards the Federation\u2019s informal settlements upgrading programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Mass Houses, Mbumba indicated that the government has concluded a new agreement for 319 of the 505 uncompleted houses at Swakopmund, enabling the resumption of work and completion of 200 houses by December 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Moreover, he added that the government, through the Community-Led Total Sanitation programme, completed about 591 ventilated toilets for households in various rural areas.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Maria David A TOTAL of 26 new townships have been proclaimed during the financial year 2023\/24.
