{"id":355366,"date":"2024-03-07T09:30:00","date_gmt":"2024-03-07T07:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=355366"},"modified":"2024-03-06T19:49:10","modified_gmt":"2024-03-06T17:49:10","slug":"namra-refunds-millions-to-taxpayers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=355366","title":{"rendered":"NAMRA refunds millions to taxpayers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maria David<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">THE Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA) has successfully paid out an amount of N$100.9 million in tax refunds to taxpayers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Yarukeekuro Ndorokaze, Chief Strategic Communication and Support Engagement, the ongoing Mass Tax Refund exercise commenced in December 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ndorokaze said that out of the 78,441 tax returns processed, 46,941 refunds were successfully paid to 46,772 individual salaried persons and pensioners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The cumulative value of these successful refunds was N$100.9 million, providing significant financial relief to eligible taxpayers,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that while the majority of refunds were successfully processed, unfortunately, 31,500 refunds totalling N$56.9 million were rejected for various reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ndorokaze indicated that the rejection criteria encompassed outstanding returns, unpaid liabilities, and missing bank account numbers, among other factors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;NamRA appreciates the cooperation received from taxpayers during this exercise and remains committed to minimizing delays in the refund process,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ndorokaze then urged taxpayers to proactively address the identified shortcomings to avoid refund rejections in the future and ensure the swift release of their refunds.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Maria David THE Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA) has successfully paid out an amount of N$100.9 million in tax refunds to taxpayers.
