INHABITANTS of the Oshikoto Region all flocked to the town of Omuthiya for the Commemoration of World Tourism Day on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The day kicked off with a street parade from the town’s open market to the sport field holding banners and placards with messages of promoting tourism in the country.<\/p>\n

World Tourism Day is commemorated each year to create awareness on the significance of tourism to Namibia\u2019s social and economic development.<\/p>\n

STREET PARADE: Learners from various schools in the Oshikoto Region took to the streets to mark the celebration of world tourism day. This year the day is being held under the theme: “Promoting heritage or cultural experiences to harness sustainable tourism.”<\/p>\n

Deputy Minister of Environment, Heather Sibungo will officially open the day.<\/p>\n
