{"id":325386,"date":"2022-09-05T09:14:02","date_gmt":"2022-09-05T07:14:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=325386"},"modified":"2022-09-05T09:14:06","modified_gmt":"2022-09-05T07:14:06","slug":"changing-the-face-of-windhoek-with-public-art","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=325386","title":{"rendered":"Changing the face of Windhoek with Public Art"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">Zorena Jantze<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">FOR the ENK Institute for Public Art, the City of Windhoek is an open-air art gallery, with every crevice and every wall having the potential to be splashed with arteries of paint that weave stories of Namibian identity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Exhibiting huge murals of lonely Acacia trees that form stoic gardens in the Namib desert to paintings that show Christine Mboma soaring through to the finish line with an exuberant smile, the institute has so far already created 10 public art murals in different sections of the city.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">To increase these large sized paintings that adorn different walls, the institute this week hosted an event in which it called out public as well as private sector institutions to fund new design concepts.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video aligncenter\"><video height=\"480\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 848 \/ 480;\" width=\"848\" controls src=\"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Changing-the-face-of-Windhoek-with-Public-Art.mp4\"><\/video><figcaption>ART IN MOTION: Some of the future design concepts showcased by the Enkara Public Art Institute which is up for funding: video: Zorena Jantze.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Emmanuel Enkara, founder of the ENK Institute for Public Art noted the organisation was founded in August 2019 with the mandate of having organisation that consistently caters to Public art.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">He added that at its heart, ENK focuses on the income of artist as they put more effort into creating large scale works.
