THE possibility of there being a serial rapist in the vicinity of Ongwediva cannot be excluded after two incidents of rape were registered in the area in a space of less than 24 hours.<\/p>\n
The victims are aged thirteen and eleven respectively, and the alleged rapist is still unknown.<\/p>\n
In the first incident, a 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped at Eefadoukadona village near Ongwediva. She was walking to a neighbouring house at around 15:00 Tuesday when she met a man who grabbed her and pulled her to the ground before proceeding to rape her.<\/p>\n
According to the police, the suspect is unknown but the victim said she would be able to identify him if she sees him again.<\/p>\n
The second incident occurred at around 14:00 on Wednesday in the Oidiva village, also in the Ongwediva area.<\/p>\n
It is alleged that the victim, aged 11, was on her way from school when she was approached by a stranger who started talking about love and when she showed no interest, the unknown suspect grabbed the victim and raped her.<\/p>\n
Both incidents were reported to the police by the victims’ parents.<\/p>\n
