Photos: Maria David<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li><\/ul><a class=\"wp-block-jetpack-slideshow_button-prev swiper-button-prev swiper-button-white\" role=\"button\"><\/a><a class=\"wp-block-jetpack-slideshow_button-next swiper-button-next swiper-button-white\" role=\"button\"><\/a><a aria-label=\"Pause Slideshow\" class=\"wp-block-jetpack-slideshow_button-pause\" role=\"button\"><\/a><div class=\"wp-block-jetpack-slideshow_pagination swiper-pagination swiper-pagination-white\"><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Chifu told the governors during the visit to Lake Liambezi that many illegal fishermen enter the water while they are sleeping at night to do fishing.<\/p>\n<p>The illegal fishermen come as far as Congo, Zambia and Botswana, and once they are caught, they then get deported back to their countries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are trying by all means to control illegal fishing by foreigners,\u201d he said, adding that they currently established Muyako Fishing group, where those members do the patrol.<\/p>\n<p>Chifu added that the group then act as community police, as they arrested, and handover the culprits to fisheries inspector and police to deal with the matter.<\/p>\n<p>Further, Chifu said for their members to execute their operations successfully, they need safety gear when doing operations on the lake.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Maria David INHABITANTS of the Zambezi Region have raised concerns over a growing number of illegal fishing being done by foreigners.
