THE two men accused in the murder of an Angolan National, Levi Kondjeni Muutundu Paulus whose body was discovered in a freezer in the Herero Mall in October 2021, will be back in court to stand their trial, despite reports in newspapers that the prosecutor general (PG) declined to prosecute them on the charges of murder and the obstruction of justice.<\/p>\n

This is after several reports in daily newspapers indicated that the office of the prosecutor general has declined to prosecute them on charges of murder and the obstruction of justice, due to lack of evidence linking the two men to the death of Paulus. The reports further stated that the accused person will only stand trial for entering into the country without proper documents.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Prosecutor General, Martha Imalwa has dismissed claims that the prosecutorial authority declined to prosecute the two men, adding that her office did not decide on the matter yet, and that such reports are void and untruthful.<\/p>\n

“I have requested the Katutura magistrate prosecuting team to provide my office with the docket as soon as possible because that is something my office has to decide”. She added.<\/p>\n

The accused persons, Amos Israel (35) and Malekia Mateus (22), who were arrested late last year, were denied bail and have been behind bars since then, as the police investigations were still underway.<\/p>\n

On October 31st 2021, the lifeless body of Kondjeni, who was 22 at the time, was found in an unplugged freezer in a shebeen located at Herero Mall Katutura. Paulus had allegedly conducted business in Herero and was last seen on 29 October 2021.<\/p>\n

When informant\u00e9 visited the Herero Mall back in 2021, it was revealed that a strong a smell that was emerging from the shebeen prompted family members to investigate. They later discovered Paulus’s already decomposing body in a closed unplagued freezer and shortly alerted the police.<\/p>\n

According to the police to the police investigations, Paulus was assaulted because his body was brutally bruised, and there were some signs of fights inside the shebeen.<\/p>\n
