{"id":318172,"date":"2022-04-20T18:35:49","date_gmt":"2022-04-20T16:35:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=318172"},"modified":"2022-04-20T18:35:49","modified_gmt":"2022-04-20T16:35:49","slug":"drug-bust-ten-denied-bail-one-shot-one-on-the-run","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=318172","title":{"rendered":"Drug bust: Ten denied bail, one shot, one on the run"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Staff Reporter<\/p>\n<p>TEN suspected drug dealers arrested in one of the biggest clampdowns on organised crime in the country, remain in custody after a brief appearance in the Gobabis Magistrate\u2019s Court.<\/p>\n<p>Another man is in hospital after he was shot during the arrest in a sting operation where drugs worth almost N$12 million were confiscated while another suspect got away and is on the run.<\/p>\n<p>Augustus Nambinga (48), Maritz Joel Garoeb (23), Tangeni Shaanika (28), Elmon Afrikaner (32), Arafat Neuako (30), Manasse Boois (18), Elton Keib, Charlie Rooi, Raul Ramazon and Frans Awaseb (ages unknown) were denied bail and the case was postponed until 13 July.<\/p>\n<p>The suspects were arrested and seven cars confiscated after a truck carrying cannabis, crack cocaine and Mandrax tablets from Botswana was on Saturday seized at the Trans-Kalahari Border Post in the Omaheke Region by Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA) officials and Nampol.<\/p>\n<p>More than 300 parcels of cannabis valued at N$10.7 million, crack cocaine worth N$39 000 and more than 10 000 Mandrax tablets valued at N$1.2 million were seized.<\/p>\n<p>The men are charged with dealing in cocaine, dealing in dependence-producing substances and money laundering.<\/p>\n<p>According to Omaheke regional commander Commissioner Andreas Haingura, a suspect was shot during the arrest when he tried to get away and was then taken to hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Another suspect escaped during the arrest and the police are on his trail.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Staff Reporter TEN suspected drug dealers arrested in one of the biggest clampdowns on organised crime in the country, remain in custody after a brief appearance in the Gobabis Magistrate\u2019s Court.
