jq4qci2q a3bd9o3v b1v8xokw oo9gr5id hzawbc8m\" dir=\"auto\">Ashley Nyambe<\/span><\/p>\n<p>MOST of Namibia\u2019s regions received considerable rainfall during this rainy season, with some places like Ngoma, in the Zambezi region, recording a total of 711,3 mm of rain, which is much higher than the expected 563 mm, according to the Ministry of Works and Transport.<\/p>\n<p>It is no secret that Zambezi is one of the regions that received heavy rainfall during this rainy season.<\/p>\n<p>According to the ministry, places like Katima Mulilo, Kasheshe, Bukalo and Sibinda recorded a total of 623,3 mm, 651 mm, 550,8 mm and 582, 8 mm of rain respectively during the rainy season, which started in October last year.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-jetpack-slideshow aligncenter\" data-autoplay=\"true\" data-delay=\"3\" data-effect=\"slide\"><div class=\"wp-block-jetpack-slideshow_container swiper-container\"><ul class=\"wp-block-jetpack-slideshow_swiper-wrapper In the Kavango East, Mashare, Kaisosi, Ndonga-Linena and Ndiyona recorded a total of 669,5 mm, 626,7 mm, 734,5 mm and 600,4 mm of rain, while Ongha, Omafo, Ongenga and Eenhana, in the Ohangwena region, recorded a total of 426 mm, 483,1 mm, 481,5 mm and 462 mm of rain during this rainy season.<\/p>\n<p>In the Kunene region, Opuwo, Omakange, Oruvandjai and Outjo recorded 233,5 mm, 144 mm, 257 mm and 361,8 mm of rain respectively.<\/p>\n<p>These high figures were also recorded in the Omusati, Oshana and Oshikoto regions.<\/p>\n<p>Okapya, in the Omusati region, recorded 691, 7 mm of rain, Okaku, in the Oshana region, recorded 434,4 mm and Oshigambo, in the Oshikoto region, recorded 583,2 mm in total for the rainy season.<\/p>\n<p>Despite this, the ministry noted that these regions received below-average rainfall with escalating rain deficits, which means crop failures and water scarcity remains a major concern in these regions.<\/p>\n<p>The ministry also stated that the Tsumkwe area through Gam to Eiseb could also experience water challenges as these areas received below-average rainfall.<\/p>\n<p>However, these areas were not completely rain-deprived. In fact, Gam, which is in the Otjozondjupa region, recorded 107,5 mm of rain and Eiseb, in the Omaheke region, recorded 176,7 mm of rain in March alone.<\/p>\n<p>Many other places in the Otjozondjupa and Omaheke regions also received remarkable rain. These places include Grootfontein, H\u00fcttenhof and Okondjatu, located in the Otjozondjupa region, which recorded a total of 660,3 mm, 485 mm and 501,8 mm of rain, as well as Okomumbonde and Epukiro, in the Omaheke region, which recorded a total rainfall of 620,5 mm and 485,7 mm respectively.<\/p>\n<p>The central areas were also not excluded from the fortunes of the rainy season. In the Khomas region, Windhoek, Omateva and Okahau recorded a total of 374,4 mm, 323 mm and 496,5 mm of rain respectively.<\/p>\n<p>However, it is the Erongo and some southern regions that received more than the usual amount of rain.<\/p>\n<p>In the Erongo region, Omatjete, which usually receives 54 mm of rain in March, recorded 92,2 mm of rain, while Omaruru, which usually records 51 mm of rain in March, recorded 77,1 mm of rain.<\/p>\n<p>In the Hardap region, Mariental and Gibeon, which usually records 25 mm and 33 mm of rain in March respectively, recorded 61 mm and 70,5 mm of rainfall this time around.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, in the Karas region, Aroab, which usually receives 26 mm of rainfall in March, and Snyrivier, which usually receives 27 mm of rain, recorded 73,6 mm and 77 mm of rainfall in March respectively.<\/p>\n<p>As we are approaching the end of this rainy season, it is clear that the beauty and after-effects of the rain did not go unappreciated or unnoticed as many people shared various photos on social media to commemorate one of the most productive rainy seasons in Namibia.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ashley Nyambe MOST of Namibia\u2019s regions received considerable rainfall during this rainy season, with some places like Ngoma, in the Zambezi region, recording a total of 711,3 mm of rain, which is much higher than the expected 563 mm, according to the Ministry of Works and Transport.
