{"id":316555,"date":"2022-03-24T09:30:00","date_gmt":"2022-03-24T07:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=316555"},"modified":"2022-03-23T17:19:46","modified_gmt":"2022-03-23T15:19:46","slug":"young-entrepreneur-receives-funding-from-dbn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=316555","title":{"rendered":"Young entrepreneur receives funding from DBN"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Staff Reporter<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>A YOUNG welder from the Erongo region, Ndeenda Mbungu, has received financial assistance from the Development Bank of Namibia (DBN) facility for skills-based finance to support his welding business, Muudhigu Investments CC.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Muudhigu Investments CC, which operates in Walvis Bay, Swakopmund and Arandis, specialises in metal fabrication, pipe welding, tube brazing, cast iron welding and sheet metal welding.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Mbungu works at the company himself, alongside his permanent work staff, which includes a welder, a handyman and a general worker.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"683\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Young-entrepreneur-receives-funding-from-DBN.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-316561\" srcset=\"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Young-entrepreneur-receives-funding-from-DBN.jpeg 683w, https:\/\/informante.web.na\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Young-entrepreneur-receives-funding-from-DBN-200x300.jpeg 200w, https:\/\/informante.web.na\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Young-entrepreneur-receives-funding-from-DBN-600x900.jpeg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px\" \/><figcaption>DBN Executive for Marketing and Corporate Communication, Jerome Mutumba.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Mbungu also makes use of outsourced accounting services to assist with the management of the business. He intends to hire temporary employees on a needs-basis as the business expands.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>DBN stated that Mbungu met the requirements for young artisan finance as he obtained a metal fabrication certificate, with a National Qualifications Framework (NQF) of level 3, from Okakarara Vocational Training Centre (OVTC). He also worked on a full-time basis prior to starting his own business, hence he has the required work experience.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The Bank\u2019s Executive for Marketing and Corporate Communication, Jerome Mutumba, commended Mbungu for not borrowing a large sum of money at once, despite the perception that large amounts of capital are required to start an effective enterprise. He stated that this decision places Muudhigu Investments in a good position as it lowers monthly repayments. This, plus the fact that Walvis Bay is a hub for industrialisation, in Mutumba\u2019s opinion, makes Mbungu and Muudhigu Investments CC the ideal borrowers<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>\u201cMuudhigu shows that with grit, determination and innovation, a business can be established with lean capital structures. In the case of youth enterprise, although expectations are often high, the reality is that larger loans often impose a significant debt burden on the young,\u201d Mutumba stated.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Mutumba further emphasised that Namibia has to consider future economic activity, while developing enterprises.
