Photo: Otjozondjupa Governor&#8217;s office<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<p>In April last year, Uerikua met with a group of people with disabilities in Otjozondjupa to discuss issues affecting them and paved the way forward on how they can mainstream their needs into policy and decision-making processes at a regional level.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The lives of Namibians with disability have considerably become difficult due to a lack of adequate wheelchairs, as well as restricted access to facilities,&#8221; he said, adding that these challenges limit them from reaching their full potential.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Uerikua said challenges faced by people living with disabilities need to be addressed to maintain their dignity and well-being as fellow human beings.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is for this reason that the Rani Group of companies through their social corporate responsibility availed funds for the purchasing of 350 wheelchairs donated to all 14 regions equally,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Uerikua said the donation will promote the understanding of the special needs of people with disabilities so that more stakeholders can help them fulfil their potential.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Maria David OTJOZONDJUPA Regional Governor James Uerikua officially distributed 21 wheelchairs to the seven constituencies of the region.
