{"id":309313,"date":"2021-10-09T15:11:11","date_gmt":"2021-10-09T13:11:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=309313"},"modified":"2021-10-09T15:11:14","modified_gmt":"2021-10-09T13:11:14","slug":"cops-smuggling-items-into-jail-get-stern-warning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=309313","title":{"rendered":"Cops smuggling items into jail get stern warning"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Maria David<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>STATION commanders have been requested to ensure that their subordinates who are stationed at police holding cells do not collude with inmates to smuggle goods into prisons.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This call was made by Police boss, Inspector General Sebastain Ndeitunga, during the handover of the Oshakati Vehicle Clearance Office, the Oshakati Police Filling Station and the Ongwediva Police Holding cells at Oshakati on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The newly inaugurated holding cells at Ongwediva were constructed at a cost of N$11 million and consist of three holding cells for male suspects, female suspects and juveniles.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-embed-handler wp-block-embed-embed-handler wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Cops smuggling items into jail get stern warning\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5HU-tyK5KRg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; These include cellphones, sharp objects and drugs,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ndeitunga added that he is sure that some police officers are facilitating these crimes for self enrichment.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, he indicated that the construction of the Ongwediva holding cells is aimed at reducing overcrowding at the Oshakati holding cells.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The police cells at Oshakati are overcrowded, to the extent that basic human rights and freedom are not considered,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ndeitunga pointed out that there is a notable challenge of dilapidated police holding cells across the country, which are putting the health of inmates at risk.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>There are currently over 70 suspects from Ongwediva detained at the Oshakati holding cells.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\"><!-- MetaSlider 271797 not found --><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Maria David \u00a0 STATION commanders have been requested to ensure that their subordinates who are stationed at police holding cells do not collude with inmates to smuggle goods into prisons. \u00a0 This call was made by Police boss, Inspector General Sebastain Ndeitunga, during the handover of the Oshakati Vehicle Clearance Office, the Oshakati Police Filling &#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":10,"featured_media":309318,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[24],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-309313","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.5 -
