{"id":307874,"date":"2021-08-30T20:15:20","date_gmt":"2021-08-30T18:15:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=307874"},"modified":"2021-08-30T20:15:23","modified_gmt":"2021-08-30T18:15:23","slug":"amadhila-speaks-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=307874","title":{"rendered":"Amadhila speaks out"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Maria David<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>IN an exclusive interview with Informant\u00e9 at Outapi, Onesmus &#8220;Tona&#8221; Amadhila opened up about the barrage of criticism directed at him and his wife, Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila with regards to several multi-million-dollar loans from the Development Bank of Namibia (DBN).<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Amadhila has refuted claims that he is failing to honour payments due to the DBN and that he received special favours in the form of the loan because of his marriage to the country\u2019s Prime Minister.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He said that since receiving the loan, he the funds strictly for business purposes and not for the construction of his private residence as alleged by some.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;No one has done me any favours to obtain these loans. he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Between March 2014 and March 2016, Amadhila obtained a loan of N$100 million from the development bank to fund the construction of the Outapi Shopping Mall. The loan was advanced in four parts during the construction period which took approximately two years.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In October 2014, he obtained another N$4 million loan for a different construction tender which he secured.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In October 2017, he received another N$40 million loan from the development bank to set up a manufacturing business of which he is now a co-owner.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;At all times, and specifically after the initial funding by the bank, when securing the subsequent loans, my existing loan account and further subsequent loan accounts remained in good standing with the bank,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I have continued to consistently make monthly repayments on these loans and have to date, repaid an amount of N$49.1 million from my personal and business accounts,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Amadhila said that despite the economic downturn, he continued to service the loans on revised terms that have reportedly helped his businesses to strive towards meeting their contractual obligations towards the DBN.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\"><!-- MetaSlider 271797 not found --><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Maria David \u00a0 IN an exclusive interview with Informant\u00e9 at Outapi, Onesmus &#8220;Tona&#8221; Amadhila opened up about the barrage of criticism directed at him and his wife, Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila with regards to several multi-million-dollar loans from the Development Bank of Namibia (DBN). \u00a0 Amadhila has refuted claims that he is failing to honour &#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":10,"featured_media":307878,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[27],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-307874","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-business"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.2 -
