{"id":304779,"date":"2021-06-02T17:03:44","date_gmt":"2021-06-02T15:03:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=304779"},"modified":"2021-06-02T17:03:46","modified_gmt":"2021-06-02T15:03:46","slug":"pensioner-defrauded-by-scammers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=304779","title":{"rendered":"Pensioner defrauded by scammers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Maria David<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>THE Namibian Police Force in the Oshana Region has urged members of the public to refrain from providing their personal information and bank information to unknown people who are calling them on their private mobile phones.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The warning follows after scammers defrauded a 60-year-old pensioner after she withdrew some money at the Bank Windhoek branch in Ondangwa on Saturday morning.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Community Affairs Officer, Inspector Thomas Aiyambo said the unknown suspects withdrew a total of N$100 000 from the pensioner&#8217;s account.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"420\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Pensioner-defrauded-by-scammers.png\" alt=\"Pensioner scammers Namibian Police Force Oshana public personal information\" class=\"wp-image-304780\" srcset=\"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Pensioner-defrauded-by-scammers.png 420w, https:\/\/informante.web.na\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Pensioner-defrauded-by-scammers-300x257.png 300w, https:\/\/informante.web.na\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Pensioner-defrauded-by-scammers-350x300.png 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 420px) 100vw, 420px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The victim told investigators that she received a call from a private number informing her that she won a voucher at MTC.
