{"id":301851,"date":"2021-03-05T07:27:54","date_gmt":"2021-03-05T05:27:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=301851"},"modified":"2021-03-05T07:27:56","modified_gmt":"2021-03-05T05:27:56","slug":"bon-unfreezes-fishcor-accounts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=301851","title":{"rendered":"BoN unfreezes Fishcor accounts"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Ni\u00ebl Terblanch\u00e9<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>THE National Fish Corporation of Namibia (Fishcor) will be able to pay salaries and accounts in arrears after the state-owned company was notified by the Bank of Namibia (BoN) that its bank accounts were released from its frozen state.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The bank accounts held at the First National Bank of Namibia were frozen in the middle of February this year while the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) of the central bank conducted an investigation into suspected violations of the foreign exchange regulations.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The new turn of events was confirmed by the Chairperson of the Temporary Board of Directors of Fishcor, Heinrich Mihe Gaomab II in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"252\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/BoN-unfreezes-Fishcor-accounts.jpg\" alt=\"BoN unfreezes Fishcor accounts National Fish Corporation Namibia Fishcor Bank Namibia BoN accounts\" class=\"wp-image-301842\"\/><figcaption>Pictured: Chairperson of the Temporary Board of Directors of Fishcor, Heinrich Mihe Gaomab II. Photo: File<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Temporary Board of Fishcor resolved to inform the Nation that the Bank of Namibia has on the full cooperation provided and information discovery availed by Fishcor in terms of the Fishcor Act 1991 and in compliance to the Bank\u2019s regulation of 22A (2) (c) unfrozen the account of Fishcor which was made in terms of regulation 22A (1)(b) of the Exchange Control Act by Bank of Namibia,\u201d Gaomab II said in the statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He said that the company offered its full cooperation to the Bank of Namibia while officials from the FIC conducted their investigations.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFishcor expresses its full confidence in the integrity of the investigations and expresses its continued cooperation to the investigations launched against the accounts associated with Fishcor and further maintains its support to the ethical pursuit and regulatory intervention of any investigations due in terms of the governance mandate bestowed upon the Temporary Board in terms of Section 10 of the Public Enterprise Governance Act, No 1 of 2019,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\"><!-- MetaSlider 271797 not found --><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":10,"featured_media":301848,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[33,27,24],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-301851","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-breaking-news","category-business","category-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.5 -
