{"id":301796,"date":"2021-03-03T13:42:04","date_gmt":"2021-03-03T11:42:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=301796"},"modified":"2021-03-03T13:42:06","modified_gmt":"2021-03-03T11:42:06","slug":"higher-education-institutions-should-toe-the-line","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=301796","title":{"rendered":"Higher education institutions should toe the line"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Maria David<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>LEARNERS that are not allowed to repeat Grade 11 will not be admitted into institutions of higher learning and many will certainly flood the streets.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This was revealed by the Minister of Higher Education, Technology and Innovation (MHETI), Itah Kandjii-Murangi during her visit to see how campuses and centres have been coping amidst COVID-19, the challenges they are facing amidst the pandemic, and to see how the government could support in this regard.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Kandjii-Murangi also requested Universities and Training Centres to absorb Grade 11 learners as agreed during the 2011 education conference.<br \/>&#8220;Institutions of higher learning are supposed to embrace the Grade 11&#8217;s and not act as if the government institutions are their private properties,&#8221; she noted.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1080\" height=\"809\" src=\"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Higher-education-institutions-should-toe-the-line.jpg\" alt=\"Higher education institutions learners repeat Grade 11 learning\" class=\"wp-image-301798\" srcset=\"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Higher-education-institutions-should-toe-the-line.jpg 300w, https:\/\/informante.web.na\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Higher-education-institutions-should-toe-the-line.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/informante.web.na\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Higher-education-institutions-should-toe-the-line.jpg 768w, https:\/\/informante.web.na\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Higher-education-institutions-should-toe-the-line.jpg 400w, https:\/\/informante.web.na\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Higher-education-institutions-should-toe-the-line.jpg 1080w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She said that there is nothing that happens in a country as big as Namibia particularly in respect of education reform that does not involve all stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The minister referred to UNAM and said that it is unfortunate that there are those that were part of the negotiation and transactional process that have emerged wanting to pretend like they haven&#8217;t been consulted.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We only have one education system and this education is based on streams that lay the foundation of higher education.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>There is no way that any major reform like the one the basic education ministry is undertaking without consultations of all the other relevant stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\"><!-- MetaSlider 271797 not found --><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":10,"featured_media":301798,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[24],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-301796","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.5 -
