Photos by Nathanael Heita<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li><\/ul><a class=\"wp-block-jetpack-slideshow_button-prev swiper-button-prev swiper-button-white\" role=\"button\"><\/a><a class=\"wp-block-jetpack-slideshow_button-next swiper-button-next swiper-button-white\" role=\"button\"><\/a><a aria-label=\"Pause Slideshow\" class=\"wp-block-jetpack-slideshow_button-pause\" role=\"button\"><\/a><div class=\"wp-block-jetpack-slideshow_pagination swiper-pagination swiper-pagination-white\"><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But she is complaining about two issues: stray animals that cause serious damage to the crop fields, and \u201clazy\u201d residents who spend their time drinking at shebeens instead of cultivating their fields to ensure food self-sufficiency.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI work in my field early in the morning and during the day I stay on the lookout for stray animals because some people here do not look after their livestock,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Gustaf\u2019s sentiments were echoed by Efinde village resident, Theopolina Sheetekela, who said that although she started cultivating somewhat late, her field looks promising.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI started late, but it is still early but my plantation looks good already,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\"><!-- MetaSlider 271797 not found --><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":10,"featured_media":301330,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[30,24],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-301329","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-environment","category-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.6 -
