{"id":301286,"date":"2021-02-17T12:52:15","date_gmt":"2021-02-17T10:52:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=301286"},"modified":"2021-02-17T12:52:18","modified_gmt":"2021-02-17T10:52:18","slug":"swapo-will-take-up-airnam-issue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=301286","title":{"rendered":"Swapo will take up Airnam issue"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Staff Reporter<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In a stunning new development in the ongoing Air Namibia liquidation saga, the Swapo Secretary-General, Sophia Shaningwa, wanted to know from protesters whether they \u201chave a problem with Swapo\u201d or a problem with the \u201cdecision\u201d taken by Cabinet to allow voluntary liquidation of the airline.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Adding fuel to the fire of two centres of power that besiege the ruling party and factions Shaningwa said that she wants the alternative proposals from the unions to save Air Namibia so that the authorities can study it.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday the Minister of Finance, Ipumbu Shiimi, and the Minister of State-owned Enterprises, Leon Jooste came under fire in the National Assembly for the collective decision of Cabinet to close Air Namibia down, while the company that leased two Airbus aircraft to Air Namibia prepared for the return of the two aircraft and the cancelling of the lease agreement.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Swapo will take up Airnam issue\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/V9Fk_LejjnM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Shaningwa promised a relatively small crowd of protestors that she would study and deliver the petition to the right authorities.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am informed that there are some workable proposals which will at least help out the airline from being liquidated, I propose that you hand in those solutions to my office,&#8221; Shaningwa said.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The lawyers for Challenge Air was determined yesterday to attach the airline\u2019s assets if N$107-million if the first instalment of the agreed-upon debt repayment was not received by Friday.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Various social media platforms came out supporting the government and accused opposition parties of double standards and opportunism as those opposing Air Namibia\u2019s liquidation are the same parties and leaders who consistently asked the government to stop funding the losses of Air Namibia.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\"><!-- MetaSlider 271797 not found --><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":10,"featured_media":301287,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[33,24],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-301286","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-breaking-news","category-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.6 -
