The construction of the new building started six years ago.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>However, Schlettwein said the ministry made a list of unfinished capital projects and that the Ministry of Works and Transport has undertaken to complete redeemable undertakings.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have now decided to ensure that all projects are completed as the government cannot allow taxpayers\u2019 money going to waste,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He explained that there are a number of cases where contractors are paid for the completion of work but nothing has been delivered because some of the contractors have been demanding the payment of deposits as a guarantee to do work. Once they received a tender they tend to abandon such projects without retribution.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is simply not fair to give any person or company a tender if they cannot or will not deliver on the terms and conditions. Be it a Namibian or foreign contractor, all work must be completed and in time,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Schlettwein made it clear that the government is not there to be taken for a ride on every tender granted.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTaxpayers are paying their dues and the funds are wasted on incomplete projects,\u201d the minister concluded.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\"><!-- MetaSlider 271797 not found --><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":10,"featured_media":301273,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[24],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-301270","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.6 -
