against rape accused teacher on Monday"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Eba Kandovazu<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>PROTESTS organised by the #ShutItDown movement and the Namibia National Students Organisation (Nanso) are scheduled to take place on Monday morning following allegations that a male teacher at Jan Mohr Secondary School raped a male learner at the school last week.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Those with information about the case said that the 52-year-old teacher was given a five day suspension a day after the rape incident took place.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The 16-year-old boy was reportedly rushed to the hospital by the school principal for examination and a preliminary report found that he was penetrated and sperm was found inside of him.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The suspect has not been arrested as of yet although the rape incident reportedly happened last week Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div swiper-pagination-white\"><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Nanso, for their protest, are demanding the suspension and dismissal of the rape accused teacher, his immediate arrest, the deployment of social workers and GBV unit workers to the school and the suspension of all teachers who stand accused of rape or any forms of abuse.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A similar incident involving the same teacher was reported in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>During that incident, a 17-year-old boy accused the teacher of raping him.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It was reported in the media at the time that the suspect, who was 45-years-old at the time was a football coach and a hostel superintendent.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He was subsequently suspended from the hostel, but continued teaching at the school.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>During that incident, the rape victim&#8217;s parents did not open a case against the teacher.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ndiilokelwa Nthengwe, an anti Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) activist said the #ShutItDown movement protest at Jan Mohr will kick off at 08:30.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Learners at the school also held a demonstration on Friday during which they demanded that the rape accused teacher be arrested.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\"><!-- MetaSlider 271797 not found
