{"id":300875,"date":"2021-02-05T20:22:45","date_gmt":"2021-02-05T18:22:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=300875"},"modified":"2021-02-05T20:22:48","modified_gmt":"2021-02-05T18:22:48","slug":"hit-and-run-driver-remanded-in-custody-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=300875","title":{"rendered":"Hit and run driver remanded in custody"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Ni\u00ebl Terblanch\u00e9<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>THE 34-year-old Charlet de Bruyn was remanded in custody after a brief appearance in the Walvis Bay Magistrate\u2019s Court on charges of culpable homicide, failing to stop at the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident, and failing to ascertain if the other party involved in the incident was injured or killed.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The hit and run incident on the B2 Road on Tuesday evening resulted in the death of a man believed to be in his 30s. The Namibian Police have not been able to identify the man that they described as light in complexion. No identification documents were found on the deceased person. At the time of his death, the man was wearing a red hoody, a pair of black jeans, a pair of black sneakers, and a black T-shirt.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Because the victim died on the scene of the incident, De Bruyn stands accused of culpable homicide and driving away from the accident scene without ascertaining if the person she hit with the double cab bakkie that she was travelling in was seriously injured.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to the incident report that was provided by NamPol in the Erongo Region, the accused was driving a Ford Ranger double cab bakkie to Long Beach from Walvis Bay at around 20:50 on Tuesday evening when she struck the deceased person with the vehicle while he was crossing the road.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>De Bruyn was arrested at her house in Long Beach shortly after the hit and run incident.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The magistrate in the matter did not grant the accused person bail and postponed the matter to the 11th of April to allow detectives to identify the victim and to finalise their investigation into the matter.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>With regards to identifying the victim, the Namibian Police requested the public to assist them.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Any person that might be able to the deceased person is requested to contact Deputy Commissioner Iikuyu at 081 246 4757, Detective Inspector Michael Ambambi at 081 640 1600, or to provide such information at the nearest police station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\"><!-- MetaSlider 271797 not found --><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":10,"featured_media":300876,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[24],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-300875","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.6 -
