{"id":300627,"date":"2021-01-30T04:00:14","date_gmt":"2021-01-30T02:00:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=300627"},"modified":"2021-01-29T20:46:21","modified_gmt":"2021-01-29T18:46:21","slug":"clothes-smugglers-caught-in-the-act","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=300627","title":{"rendered":"Clothes smugglers caught in the act"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Placido Hilukilwa<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>AN unspecified number of Angolan and Namibian nationals were earlier this week apprehended by the police while crossing the international border illegally in the dead of night with secondhand clothes.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to Ohangwena police\u2019s community affairs officer, Inspector Abner Kaume Itumba, an unspecified number of people were caught trying to enter Namibia using an illegal entry point and violating the curfew that comes into effect at 21:00.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The alleged transgressors were smuggling sandals, used clothes and other items that they apparently intended to sell in Namibia.<br \/>\u201cThe majority were Angolans, but the group also included a number of Namibians. They were promptly arrested and have already appeared in court, but I have no further details at the moment,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"112\" height=\"144\" src=\"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Clothes-smugglers-caught-in-the-act.jpg\" alt=\"Clothes smugglers caught act Angolan Namibian nationals apprehended police crossing international\" class=\"wp-image-300628\"\/><figcaption>Inspector Abner Kaume Itumba. Photo: Archive<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Itumba said that the police is on duty 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe do not only patrol the borders during the day, but also during the night. Those who think that they are safe when they cross the border illegally under the cover of darkness, are deceiving themselves.
