{"id":299706,"date":"2021-01-03T14:04:58","date_gmt":"2021-01-03T12:04:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=299706"},"modified":"2021-01-03T14:05:00","modified_gmt":"2021-01-03T12:05:00","slug":"tropical-storm-brings-an-abundance-of-rain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=299706","title":{"rendered":"Tropical storm brings an abundance of rain"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Ni\u00ebl Terblanch\u00e9<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>THE tropical storm Chalane and the low-pressure system over northern Namibia has converged bringing with it abundant rain countrywide.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rain in excess of 150 millimetres has been measured in parts of central-northern Namibia over the past three days.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Most of the rain was recorded when the much-depleted storm moved in over northeastern Namibia on Friday night. By late Saturday afternoon, the outer reaches of the storm reached the coast and reports of rain in the major coastal towns started pouring in.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div south like Keetmanshoop received as much as 20 millimetres while farmers in the area of Gobabis reported as much as 70 millimetres of rain.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Residents of Windhoek reported continuous rain on Friday and by Saturday sporadic heavy downpours were occurring in and around the city.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to the various weather forecasters, the low-pressure system is situated in such a way that Namibia was covered entirely with thick clouds by Saturday evening.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Namibia Meteorological Service predicted that the widespread thundershowers will persist over the interior of Namibia on Sunday.
