{"id":299472,"date":"2020-12-24T15:20:34","date_gmt":"2020-12-24T13:20:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=299472"},"modified":"2020-12-24T07:32:14","modified_gmt":"2020-12-24T05:32:14","slug":"imalwa-re-appointed-as-pg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=299472","title":{"rendered":"Imalwa re-appointed as PG"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Staff Reporter<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>THE Judicial Service Commission (JSC) officially announced the re-appointment of Martha Imalwa as the Prosecutor-General of Namibia.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Imalwa was re-appointed in the position by President Hage Geingob on the recommendation of the JSC.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>During the second week of November, the JSC announced that Martha Imalwa, Ruth Herunga, and Taswald Theo July were shortlisted as the candidates who met the formal requirements of serving as Namibia\u2019s next Prosecutor-General.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"363\" height=\"358\" src=\"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Imalwa-re-appointed-as-PG.png\" alt=\"Judicial Service Commission JSC Martha Imalwa Prosecutor-General Namibia\" class=\"wp-image-299473\" srcset=\"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Imalwa-re-appointed-as-PG.png 300w, https:\/\/informante.web.na\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Imalwa-re-appointed-as-PG.png 36w, https:\/\/informante.web.na\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Imalwa-re-appointed-as-PG.png 304w, https:\/\/informante.web.na\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Imalwa-re-appointed-as-PG.png 363w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 363px) 100vw, 363px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>At the beginning of this year, the JSC decided to embark on a thorough review of its selection process, in its entirety, with the objective of ensuring that the selection process is attuned to the principles of constitutional democracy.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>To this end, the JSC has set up a special committee to conduct this review.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The commission stated at the time that eight candidates submitted applications for the position of Prosecutor-General. Five applicants did not meet some of the requirements and were not considered.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Since then the three shortlisted candidates were engaged by the special committee which led to the recommendation that Imalwa should be re-appointed to the position.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Imalwa\u2019s appointment will run for five years and will take effect from 1 January 2021 and will end on 31 December 2025.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\"><!-- MetaSlider 271797 not found --><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":10,"featured_media":299473,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[24],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-299472","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.5 -
