{"id":299177,"date":"2020-12-14T13:22:26","date_gmt":"2020-12-14T11:22:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=299177"},"modified":"2020-12-14T13:22:29","modified_gmt":"2020-12-14T11:22:29","slug":"more-fishrot-suspects-will-be-arrested","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=299177","title":{"rendered":"More Fishrot suspects will be arrested"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Zorena Jantze<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A HISTORICAL watershed moment was reached in Namibia\u2019s judicial history when the state indicated that at least three more people, among them fugitive lawyer Mar\u00e9n de Klerk, will also be to stand trial as accused persons in the large scale fisheries corruption matter.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Martha Imalwa, Namibia\u2019s Prosecutor General has decided expedite the arrest of three more suspects and indicated that once arrested the suspect will appear alongside former fisheries minister, Bernhard Esau, former justice minister, Sackey Shanghala, James Hatuikulipi, Mike Nghipunya, Tamson Hatuiklulipi, Ricardo Gustavo and Pius Mwatelulo when they appear for a pre-trial hearing in the Windhoek High Court.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"More Fishrot suspects will be arrested\" width=\"1000\" height=\"750\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Vu6GLqDCUbc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><figcaption>IN COURT: The seven Fishrot accused arrive in the Windhoek Magistrate&#8217;s Court. &#8211; Footage: Marthina Mutanga<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The seven men appeared in the Windhoek Magistrate\u2019s Court with the expectation that the cases against them will be provisionally withdrawn this morning because of the slow progress of the investigation into the matter.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The watershed moment came when they were not only informed that the matter is ready to go to trial in the High Court but that three more suspects will join their ranks in the accused persons\u2019 dock on the 22nd of April 2021.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The completion of the investigation by the Anti-Corruption Commission and special divisions of the Namibian Police in such a short period of time set a new precedent for the way all cases of corruption will be processed by the Namibian Judiciary in the future.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\"><!-- MetaSlider 271797 not found --><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":11,"featured_media":299178,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[33],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-299177","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-breaking-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.5 -
