{"id":299046,"date":"2020-12-11T07:45:02","date_gmt":"2020-12-11T05:45:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=299046"},"modified":"2020-12-11T07:45:06","modified_gmt":"2020-12-11T05:45:06","slug":"marginalised-communities-inclusivity-in-census-boosted","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=299046","title":{"rendered":"Marginalised communities inclusivity in census boosted"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Eba Kandovazu<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>THE Namibia Statistics Agency has launched a standards report, aimed at recognizing marginalized communities and including them when censuses are carried out.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The concept, under the theme \u201cLeave No One Behind\u201d underpins the Sustainable Development Goals to end extreme poverty, inequality and to fast-track progress for the people left behind, NSA Manager of Corporate Communications Iipumbu Sakaria said.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Deputy Minister of Marginalized People in The Ministry of Gender Equality, Poverty Eradication and Social Development, Royal \/Ui \/O\/Oo, stated that the main purpose of the standards that were being launched was the identification of populations left behind which in Namibia\u2019s case is marginalized people.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"582\" height=\"822\" src=\"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Marginalised-communities-inclusivity-in-census-boosted.png\" alt=\"Namibia Statistics Agency launched standards report marginalized communities\" class=\"wp-image-299048\" srcset=\"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Marginalised-communities-inclusivity-in-census-boosted.png 212w, https:\/\/informante.web.na\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Marginalised-communities-inclusivity-in-census-boosted.png 582w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 582px) 100vw, 582px\" \/><figcaption>INCLUSIVE PLANS: Deputy Minister of Poverty Eradication Royal \/Ui \/O\/Oo. &#8211; Photos by Eba Kandovazu<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe word marginalized already speaks for itself as it puts emphasis on those that society is perceived or even indeed has been relegated, sidelined, demoted, downgraded, disregarded, banished, ostracized, or frozen out from what others have, or enjoy. Hence, there are various ways in which to look at and perceived marginalization and I would agree that everybody in certain ways and means can sometimes claim to feel marginalized. It is encouraging that the NSA will be conducting the national Population and Housing Census next year and I will look forward to new data with regards to our marginalized communities. There are various international treaties and conventions that we are signatory to and it is our obligation to ensure that indeed no one is left behind in terms of socio-economic and cultural development\u201d \/Ui \/O\/Oo said at the event.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sakaria added that in order to achieve goals as set out and for the ease of monitoring and tracking progress made thereof, data will be disaggregated to an extent that populations that are left behind are easily identifiable for further intervention.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis standard prescribes the core set of variables required to measure the \u201cleave no one behind\u201d concept, applicable to all data producers in the National Statistics System and shall form the basis of all data collection tools for surveys, Censuses, and administrative data in Namibia,\u201d He stressed.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\"><!-- MetaSlider 271797 not found --><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":10,"featured_media":299047,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[24],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-299046","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.5 -
