{"id":297231,"date":"2020-10-19T07:48:37","date_gmt":"2020-10-19T05:48:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=297231"},"modified":"2020-10-19T07:48:39","modified_gmt":"2020-10-19T05:48:39","slug":"park-management-and-tourism-development-plans-launched","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=297231","title":{"rendered":"Park Management and Tourism Development Plans launched"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Staff Reporter<\/p>\n<p>THE Ministry of Environment, Forestry, and Tourism, with support from the German Government through KFW, will launch six Park Management and two Tourism Development plans for the North Eastern Parks and the Tsau \/\/Khaeb National Park.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The launch ceremony took place on 14 October 2020 in Windhoek and was officiated by Pohamba Shifeta, Minister of Environment, Forestry and Tourism, and Dr. Gabriele Geier, Head of Cooperation in the German Embassy in Namibia.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The new Park Management Plans to be launched is for Nkasa Rupara, Mudumu, Bwabwata, Popa falls, Khaudum and Tsau \/\/Khaeb National Parks, and one North Eastern Tourism Development Plan, as well a one for Tsau \/\/Khaeb (Sperrgebiet) National Park.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"385\" src=\"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Park-Management-and-Tourism-Development-Plans-launched.png\" alt=\"Park Management Tourism Development Plans Ministry Environment German Government KFW\" class=\"wp-image-297230\" srcset=\"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Park-Management-and-Tourism-Development-Plans-launched.png 300w, https:\/\/informante.web.na\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Park-Management-and-Tourism-Development-Plans-launched.png 499w, https:\/\/informante.web.na\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Park-Management-and-Tourism-Development-Plans-launched.png 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><figcaption>REVIVAL COMING: The Popa Falls Lodge located a few kilometres south of Divundu in the Kavango East region. &#8211; Photo: Courtesy of the NWR<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>These new Park Management and Tourism Development Plan mark yet another milestone of a long-term joint development programme to improve the management of Namibia\u00b4s National Parks, co-financed by the Federal Republic of Germany through KFW.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The total cumulative funding so far committed by the German Government for different projects to the Ministry under the directorate of Wildlife and Natural Parks since the beginning of the program in 2006, is approximately euros 75.5 million (about N$1.4 billion).<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>These park management tools will enable the Ministry to effectively and efficiently manage the National Parks and protect the park\u2019s unique flora and fauna.
