THE FNB branch in Swakopmund will be completely shut down for at least two days to ensure that all necessary health and safety measure are adhered to after a staff member\u2019s family member, identified as case number 39 in Namibia, tested positive for COVID-19.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

In a statement Erwin Tjipuka, the Chief Executive Officer of FNB Namibia said that the Swakopmund branch will be closed from the 19th of June as a precaution to protect staff and customers from possible COVID19 infection.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cCase number 39, has been identified as a close relative of an FNB Swakopmund staff member. The staff member is currently undergoing testing with results pending. The proactive stance was taken to eliminate any doubts and offer peace of mind to our staff, clients, stakeholders and communities. FNB Namibia has temporarily sent all branch staff home, closed the branch for Friday 19 and Saturday 20 June 2020 and has commissioned a full sanitisation of the branch premises over this period,\u201d Tjipuka said.<\/p>\n

According to Tjipuka the bank in Swakopmund will reopen on Monday the 22nd of June fully sanitised and staffed with a new staff complement which has not been in contact with the staff member whose family member is COVID-19 positive.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cAlong with the precautionary decontamination of the branch, all staff will be isolated for the interim, and will be tested if the affected staff member is tested positive. Currently, no FNB staff member has tested positive.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Bank said that all clients who may have been exposed to the specific staff member under investigation, will be contacted via the Ministry of Health\u2019s COVID-19 response team for screening questions and if necessary, thereafter, testing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to Tjipuka staff and customer safety is paramount to the bank and although no positive case has been confirmed.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

FNB Namibia was one of the first financial institutions to ensure staff and customer safety at all operating premises with strict adherence to sanitisation, mask-wearing and social distancing rules countrywide. FNB Namibia is a founder member of the Health Optimisation in a Pandemic Emergency (HOPE) Fund, which so far has committed more than N$10 million in support of Namibia\u2019s pandemic preparations.<\/p>\n
