{"id":282865,"date":"2019-11-02T06:55:22","date_gmt":"2019-11-02T04:55:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=282865"},"modified":"2019-11-02T06:55:24","modified_gmt":"2019-11-02T04:55:24","slug":"namibia-misses-place-in-t20-final-by-18-runs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/informante.web.na\/?p=282865","title":{"rendered":"Namibia misses place in T20 final by 18 runs"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Ni\u00ebl Terblanch\u00e9<\/p>\n<p>PAPUA New Guinea denied Namibia their place in the final match of the 2019 ICC Men&#8217;s T20 World Cup Qualifiers in Dubai by beating them with 18 runs.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Just days after qualifying for their first ever T20 World Cup tournament the Namibians were out bowled and out fielded by the men from Papua New Guinea. The islanders won the toss and opted to bat first and although the Namibian fielded spectacularly they could not reach the target of 131 runs to win the match.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Namibian skipper Gerhard Erasmus is credited with the catch of the tournament after he caught a ball that was lofted high by opening batsman Tony Ura from a ball delivered by JJ Smith. He had to run back and jump in the air with an outstretched arm and caught the ball with a reversed grip before landing safely and confirming the dismissal of the batsman only four balls into the building a relatively low 130 runs.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In the second innings the bowling from the islanders denied the Namibians the opportunity to build a good run rate and by the end of the 20 overs, they were still 19 runs short of their winning target.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Papua New Guinea will now go on to face the Netherlands in the final match to determine the tournament champions while the Namibians will take on Ireland to determine who will placed third in the tournament.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\"><!-- MetaSlider 271797 not found
